"Robayat" Trio performs at The Westminster Town Hall Forum fall series "America As Global Citizen", wrapping up in November by Aaron Smith
The Westminster Town Hall Forum fall series entitled "America As Global Citizen", wraps up with two lectures on Thursday’s November 2 and November 16. On November 2, Reza Aslan, from the University of Southern California’s Center on Public Diplomacy will speak on "Faith and Politics in the Muslim World". The Forum is preceded by a concert By the Local Persian Music Group "Robayat" at 11:30AM performing a selection of Persian Music.

Minnesota Museum of America Art,
St. Paul, MN
Robayat performs Persian music, sung in Farsi, as well as folk music of Azerbaijan, Turkey, and central Asia. The roots of Persian music extend as far back as the year 500 B.C., and Robayat plays this rich and complex traditional music in an effort to preserve the culture. As critic Jim Meyer of the Minneapolis Star Tribune wrote, "Though Robayat is serious about this music, the players approach it with confidence and a sense of fun. The group's ease in extended improvisation.can make even a 25-minute piece consistently interesting."
